Gold in Old and Used Mobile Phones

As I was browsing at Abs-cbnnews.com, I come into a very interesting article that I think is also gonna interest all of you. The article was entitled “There’s gold in your cell phone” and talks about making money on your old cellphone. A study has recently discovered that cellphones and electronic appliances contain various metal and mineral compositions that have market value. The study shows that cellphones and electronic appliances can even have gold inside it. Copper and tin are also materials that are present in phones and have a relatively high selling price. This implies that what you think is old and obsolute can also become a gold mine for money.

“A tonne of ore from a gold mine produces just 5 grams (0.18 ounce) of gold on average, whereas a tonne of discarded mobile phones can yield 150 grams (5.3 ounce) or more, according to a study by Yokohama Metal Co Ltd, another recycling firm.”

Instead of throwing away such old items, you can now recycle it and you can even earn more money from it. Japan is the number one country who is following this recycling trend yet they are only getting about 10-20% of old discarded cellphones due to the fact that people are keeping their unused phones because it contains valuable information and data inside. Recycling mobilephones and electronics is an emerging industry and can also be of great help to our declining planet.
